The National Air and Space Operations Center (NASOC) is taking part in a drill to simulate the effects of a nuclear strike.
The drills are being conducted by the NAFPA and the United States Strategic Command in Colorado Springs, Colorado, according to the Washington Post.
The US Air Force has said that it has conducted four air and ground exercises in recent years and will continue to do so in the coming months.
In May, the NFA said it would also be participating in the exercise in the future.
It is the first time the United Nations has been involved in the exercises since the US invasion of Iraq in 2003.
The UN Security Council approved the first US-led invasion of Syria in 2011.
