Tuttosport has confirmed that Juventus midfielder Gianlui Buffon is set to sign for the Italy national team in the next few weeks.
Buffon was recently appointed as a training partner for Fiorentina’s Giuseppe Rossi.
The 31-year-old has spent most of his career with the Giuseppina, playing in both the Premier League and Serie A. Juventus and Fiorendina Juventus and Fiorenntina were both the top two teams in the Serie A last season, but the Rossios have fallen down the table after missing out on the Europa League by two points in 2018.
Buffont is expected to fill in as a right-back this season, and will become a free agent after the season.
He is the only player in the squad who is not Italian, but it is thought he would like to remain in the country to continue his playing career.
Rossi is set for a trial with Fiorence this summer and Buffont has indicated he would consider making the move to Serie A if he were given a contract extension.
