With a new, younger actor replacing him, the once-vaunted Billy Bob Thorpe is on the ropes.
The actor, who played the titular role on television series Cheers, has been on the job less than three years, but he’s already got a reputation for being a bit of a pain in the ass.
And with the upcoming release of the upcoming The Hangover Part II, it seems that Thornton is no longer the only one who’s going to need to do some heavy lifting.
Here are six things to remember about the former Cheers star: 1.
He’s not the only actor who’s been fired or put on the hot seat for a lack of work.
In 2011, Cheers writer/producer Joe Cornish revealed that Thornton had been let go from the show.
And that same year, The Hangovers director Rob Tapert announced that the actor had been put on indefinite leave, citing health issues.
2.
Thornton is still very much alive.
The new film will feature the iconic character of Billy Thornton, played by John Krasinski.
While there’s no confirmation on the actor’s current health status, the actor has been in the news a lot lately, having been hospitalized with pneumonia, pneumonia pneumonia and other respiratory problems.
And he’s not just being sidelined, he’s being kept off set by his producer and co-star Michael Cera.
According to Deadline, the director has been concerned that Thornton’s recovery might be delayed, leading to the film being rushed to theaters before the actor can fully recover.
And the actor himself recently posted a series of tweets saying he was doing well.
So far, he hasn’t been charged with any crimes.
3.
The Hangout 2 stars Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, and it will air on July 25th.
4.
This isn’t the first time Thornton has been fired.
He took over the role of Billy Thorpe after he left the show in 2015.
He then left to pursue other projects, but it was only after he was let go that he found himself back in the Cheers fold.
5.
The original Cheers was not so great, but the new movie is pretty good.
The movie was based on the television series of the same name and was set in the ’90s, and featured some of the funniest scenes in the show’s history.
But it was also one of the least-well-reviewed movies of the year, and critics didn’t love it either.
It also didn’t help that it was a very long film, taking a total of three hours to air on Netflix.
6.
It’s not a spoiler to tell you that The Hangouts Part II will be a bit different.
The film will be set in a new Los Angeles, and will have a new cast.
The actors playing Billy Thorpes kids, who are all teenagers, will be playing the characters, and the story will be told from the perspective of the new parents.
